GEORGE IRWIN
Founder + CEO

Formerly a Landscape Contractor in New Jersey, George sold his business to finish his teaching degree in upstate New York. It was in the interim that he started a contracting company building ponds. In that year (1999)  a client inquired about a roof top garden. At that time, there was in fact very little information in the US about what is known today as “Green Roofs”. George’s personality drove him to gather additional resources. Working with companies in Europe he was instrumental in the development of  an easy-to-install system known as the Patented Green Living Roof Panel.

In 2002, his new career path lead to the creation of Green Living Roofs.  In 2004, George developed his first sloped green roof application, which later became his Patented Green Living Wall.

Green Living Roofs became Green Living Technologies a.k.a. GLT, and in 2009 GLT formed three additional subsidiaries: GLT Innovations, GLT Food Factories, and the New York State-approved The GLT Institute. In 2011 GLT became GLTi or Green Living Technologies International, LLC.
